I specialize in transatlantic migration, political radicalism, and labor history in the Gilded Age and Progressive Era. My research centers on the connections between migration, race and ethnicity, and radical social movements. My book Immigrants against the State: Yiddish and Italian Anarchism in America, is forthcoming from the University of Illinois Press. Other projects on which I am working include a co-edited volume on transnational histories of the Industrial Workers of the World (IWW), an article on American anarchist participation in the Spanish Civil War, and a new book project on the deportees of America's First Red Scare.
