Dr. Melanie Sattler has been a full-time faculty member in Civil Engineering at the University of Texas at Arlington for 13 years. She teaches courses related to sustainable engineering, solid waste management, and air quality. Her current research focuses on sustainable energy from waste (landfill gas and biogas), landfill emissions, and life cycle environmental analysis. She and her students have published over 100 peer-reviewed conference proceeding and journal papers. Prior to joining UTA, she worked in environmental positions in consulting (Alan Plummer Associates, one and a half years) and local government (North Central Texas Council of Governments, 5 years). She received her Ph.D. in environmental engineering from the University of Texas at Austin, and is a registered professional engineer in the state of Texas.
