This group focused on building digital presence for scholars and digital pedagogy for teaching practice. Early in the fall semester, PLC members learned skills and strategies to create and manage their own digital domain, as well as teaching and encouraging students to do the same. Together, we learned: how to use tools such as WordPress and Omeka, strategies for design, accessibility, copyright/fair use, metadata, FERPA, and basic learning analytics and how to utilize it to improve student success. Participants attended the OLC Accelerate conference, held in Orlando and worked towards engaging in IRB-approved research with a goal to write a manuscript to be submitted to a research journal or in the ResearchCommons.
