1995.2 - Concert Hall Fort Worth
Abstract
Design work from the 1995 fall semester, Studio Martin Price, School of Architecture, The University of Texas at Arlington. Concert Hall. Per Johan Dahl. The large scale of the project is reduced by spiraling it into the ground and weaving it into the scale of the surrounding Fort Worth urban fabric. This provides for a more comfortable descent into the entry. Color is used to articulate and enhance a sense of movement through a gradation of warm color at the entrance to cool color inside the hall. The roof slopes and folds upward in two sections, which provide for daylight to enter the lobby and permit sidewalk views down into the lobby. The orchestra is surrounded on all sides by the audience.
