The University of Texas at Arlington hosts a DSpace repository, UTA ResearchCommons, that has grown to contain over 4,500 student electronic theses & dissertations (ETDs). The Scholarly Communication Division at the UTA Libraries has been managing a successful campus submission workflow to deposit ETDs using Vireo. Vireo, Java based DSpace plugin developed by Texas Digital Library (https://www.tdl.org/etds/), enables ETD submission and management. UTA Libraries has spun up a second instance of Vireo expanding student submission to non-ETD student work to showcase student research output in support of student success initiatives. This presentation will discuss our experience with creating the expansive workflow including visual demonstrations of instructions enabling pro-active student submission to Vireo and the UTA ResearchCommons. Attendees will leave with an understanding of UTA’s established workflow to collect items from decentralized research events across campus. In addition, the Libraries’ communication efforts that encouraged faculty and student participation. Visuals, including instructions will be shared. This reveals a new use for the established Vireo submission platform that may still be unknown to other institutions. In addition, this solution includes work with campus partners and the collaborative efforts of librarians in a variety of roles working across departmental lines.en_US
