Lana Rings was Interim Director of UT Arlington's new Center for Teaching and Learning Excellence until her retirement in June, 2014. She was also Associate Professor of German in the Department of Modern Languages. Her research and teaching interests include: pedagogy in higher education, the application of linguistic research and theory to methods of teaching languages, intercultural communication, second language acquisition and methods of language teaching, implications of conversational analysis for language teaching materials, semantic-pragmatic issues in the teaching of foreign languages/cultures, teacher training, literary analysis and linguistic theory, medieval and classical literature, history and structure of the German language.
